Regular Services
There are many opportunities to worship through our offering of services at St James the Less. Most of our services follow liturgy from the Scottish Episcopal Church.
If you wish to join any of our services on Zoom, please contact Nick, our Rector. We make some of our services available to listen and watch in your own time.
Sunday:
10.30 am: Holy Communion (currently in church and on Zoom). This service normally follows the Scottish Episcopal Church 1982 liturgy and includes music, readings, a sermon, and communion and lasts about an hour. For those on Zoom, a time of social conversation takes place after the service. Refreshments in church are currently suspended due to covid.
Morning Prayer (Monday to Friday):
9.00 am Monday to Friday (currently on Zoom). This services follows the Scottish Episcopal Church Morning prayer liturgy and lasts about 30 minutes.
Evening Prayer (Monday to Friday):
5.30 pm (currently on Zoom) This services follows the Scottish Episcopal Church Evening prayer liturgy and lasts about 30 minutes.
Wednesday Lunchtime:
12.30 pm: Mid-week Holy Communion. This service is a said service that normally follows the 1982 liturgy and includes readings, a brief reflection, and communion and lasts about 45 minutes.
Wednesday evening:

We hold a range of services on a regular basis (all currently on Zoom):
- 1st Wednesday of the month: Service of Prayers for Healing (all prayer requests to go by email to Marion Mather). Lasts about 40 Minutes.
- 2nd Wednesday of the month: Christian Meditation – lasts about 30 minutes and includes 15 minutes of silence.
- 3rd Wednesday of the month: Service based on Iona Abbey liturgy for Justice and Peace – lasts about 40 Minutes.
- 4th Wednesday of the month: Service in the style of Taizé – lasts about an hour.
9.00 pm:
We hold the ancient service of Compline (currently on Zoom) using the 1929 Scottish Prayer Book Liturgy) Lasts about 15 minutes.
