In 2015 Vestry wanted to pilot a bible study. It was suggested that this should include supper and fellowship as well as study. To make it more accessible and offer something that would be a short-term commitment, we thought a 5-6 week course would be best.
We scheduled this for October and November, which has worked well as a link between the end of summer and before the Advent season, which tends to be busy. Apart from mid-term breaks this has proved to be a good time of year for most.
The course has been well supported by both congregations and we have also been able to offer spaces for others. We have numbered from 28 to 17 during the weeks of the course and folk have been welcome to dip in and out, though most have managed at least 2/3rds of the course.
Participants have included some members of Space and South Kirk, as well as St Mungo’s Penicuik, and P&G’s in Edinburgh.
Thanks also to all who provided food and practical help. It has been a good exercise in working together and getting to know each other.
From Monday 26th February 2017, we will offer another season of the Last Supper Club, when we are wondering Why did Jesus have to die? And what’s changed?
