There are lots of opportunities to serve God and other people
at St James the Less. What do you have the energy for?
Choir practice is at 7pm on Thursdays in term time. We meet in church, please do come along if you enjoy singing with others!
Gardening at St JtL
At 10am on Thursdays in the growing season, 3 Davids and 1 Des meet to tend the grounds of St James the Less. They work diligently, chat affably and stop for coffee at about 11am. You don’t have to be called David to lend a hand (as Des will testify), and you don’t even have to garden to drop in for coffee.
At 1pm on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, the Mother’s Union meets for lunch and then to study/pray/knit or set the world to rights. We are an energetic group with wide-ranging interests who enjoy welcoming new members and the mildly curious. (Men can join too, you know!)
Penicuik for Africa
Penicuik for Africa is how St James focuses its mission to the wider world. Currently we are working with an eye hospital in Cape Coast, Ghana. For more information about our origins and plans for the future and how to get involved, please click on the image below.
Currently St James holds shares in the Penicuik Storehouse project, as do many of our members. Rev’d Neville plays a key role in the steering group and we are trying to find more ways to allow encourage the thriving of this exciting community development. For the last 18 months, the Storehouse Community meal has been enjoyed on a Tuesday in the hall of St James the Less church, while the Storehouse committee have been making efforts to refurbish their own building. Follow the link to their own website to find out how you can get involved.
